Writing The Content Of Your Website’s Product Page
Your website’s product page is pretty much that page of your website which will get you new business – especially if your company makes and sells a variety of products. Writing the content of your website’s product page is therefore a very important task.
Today lets have a look at the different ways that you can write the content of your website’s product page, so as to maximize the effect of this page on your site’s viewers.
Writing content for product pages can often be considered to be quite tricky. The overall look and feel of the content of that page will depend on several factors.
For example, the product page of a single product company will differ greatly from a company that offers multiple products, and it will be even more different from a company that runs a web based storefront for many varieties of products.
Writing Content For Your Website’s Product Page
A Few Simple Rules
However, there are a few things that you can keep in mind while writing the content for a product page of a website. They are:
- Product Description – describe your product to the reader. Tell him / her what the product is all about. You can use bullet points and header tags to maximum effect over here.

- Benefits – tell the readers what they stand to gain from the purchase of said product(s).
- Value – tell the readers why your product is the best value for money. Let them know what a great deal they are getting.
- Uses – tell the readers about the different uses for the product, or about the different ways in which the product will be useful to them. You can even use a variety of case studies to illustrate your points.
- Specifications – give the reader more information about the product. Include product specifications and such details that will help them make up their mind to buy the product.
- Pictures – these speak a thousand words. Make as many pictures available as you can. If you are using WordPress, then you can use the NextGen Gallery plugin to your best advantage over here.
- Videos – this is the latest trend, and I dare say, I like having videos to see the product before I buy. A video is a lot more interactive than a picture, and yes, it enhances the buying experience to a very large degree. WordPress users can use the FastTube plugin with best results over here.

- Buy Now / Add To Cart Buttons – put the ‘Buy Now’ or ‘Add To Cart’ buttons right where the readers can see them, and of course, click on them.
- Downloadable PDFs – if your product has its own brochure, or the product description can be very detailed, then include a link where the reader can click to download a PDF document with those details.
- Make Them About The Reader – this is a very important point to bear in mind while writing the content for a product page. Make sure that the content is all about the reader (the potential buyer for your product) – make it relevant to them, and tell them how it will make their life better etc. Liberal use of the word ‘you’ is recommended.
Again, I have to state this, these are broad rules, and they have to be tweaked a bit here and there depending on the actual product that you are going to sell on your website.
In Conclusion…
Writing the content for your website’s product page need not be a hassle. There are just a few simple rules that you ought to keep in mind while doing so, and you will be able to effectively craft just the right content for your website’s product page.
