About Madhavi Ghare

So, who is Madhavi Ghare anyway?

Here is an interesting interview / introduction of me – i.e. – Madhavi Ghare!

How Do You Pronounce Your Name?

My name, Madhavi Ghare is pronounced Maa-dha-vee Gha-ray.

Madhavi Ghare

So Madhavi, What do you do?

I have been working as a freelance web copy writer and blogger for over 5 years now. I also read Tarot cards and teach Tarot card reading.

How did you get into all this?

I used to do the corporate grind for a while (seems like ages to me!) – because for many, many years of my life I had no clue what I wanted to do with my life, and in my life.

As a consequence, I ended up doing a bunch of random jobs. Most of them were pretty un-connected with each other, but then I actually learnt quite a bit from these experiences.

Mostly, I learnt about what I did not want to be doing with my life, and in my life.

For example?

Well, for starters, I quickly realized that corporate office politics was a very sophisticated game, and that I wasn’t the kind of person who wanted to spend more time playing it while I could actually get some work done and go home and read a book.

Also, I very quickly realized that I did not – rather, could not – see the rest of my life just passing by this way. The pay was decent, but it wasn’t something I saw myself doing for the rest of my life. I always thought back to the standard job interview question where they ask you:

“Where do you see yourself five years from now?”

Well, I always lied and gave them the answer they wanted to hear. But honestly, I always saw myself sitting at home, in my PJs, and working on my laptop, and doing things that I liked to do and having a great time doing them.

So where did Writing come in?

Well, I always loved to write and I used to fill up pages and pages of notebooks and diaries and what-not. I write poems and make up stories. And I love being able to express myself. And in my spare time, I had made a website on Geocities – and I had put up my stories and poems on there. I actually ended up meeting a lot of nice people who read them and liked them and stuff like that.

Coming back to my story, one day, I just decided to quit everything and bring my life to a crisis point. It was now or never. I felt as if I had to force the hand of the Universe or something…

And then, out of the blue, I got a phone call from a company, asking me if I was interested in this copywriter position. They had seen my Geocities site and liked my writing style.

Well, I did end up take up the job, and till date, those four months that I worked for them were the most fun I have ever had while working in a ‘job’. But of course, the fun didn’t last long. Stupidly childish office politics took over, and I just quit. Walked out.

The very next day, I purchased my domain www.madhavighare.com and everything began from that point onwards.

You see, I had realized that writing was what I had been wanting to do all my life – in fact it had been what I was already doing and enjoying, all my life. And web content writing was one of the ways I could make a decent living, while avoiding all the silliness and stupidity that I encountered in corporate life.

Yin Yang

Cool.. But what about the Tarot thing?

Ah! It was during the time that I had quit the job that I discovered the cards. You see, I never really believed in all this – I used to think that it was just a huge scam – all that astrology and stuff. But then, one day, a friend of mine told me to just go for a Tarot reading. She figured that since I was so confused, I would get some guidance from a reading, and all that.

I had no clue what Tarot was all about and she convinced me that I had to try it out and see for myself. So I went. And oh boy! The experience really shook me up. I just felt so connected to the cards and the pictures and the entire process…

When the reading was over, I asked the lady if she would teach me and she did and then she pushed me into reading professionally and here I am!

So that was it?

Not really. You see, after the first few readings I did professionally, I realized that there was so much more that I simply wasn’t ‘getting’. So I started to look around on the Internet and I found these amazing books which I ordered from Amazon.Com and started to read them. I learnt so much from those books, that I was amazed at the amount of knowledge and information that the cards contain.

I quickly realized that as with Writing, so it is with Tarot – you never really know ‘everything’.. all you can do is keep studying, keep learning, and keep on trying new things and discover a world of possibilities and more! The fun part is that this process never really ends and it keeps you going forever!

That brings me back to my question: How do you manage both of these careers?

Its easy. I just go with the flow!

(Smiles) Just like that?

Yeah! Just like that!

????

OK. Let me see if I can explain differently…

It is totally a left-brain, right-brain combination thing.

Left Brain Right BrainSee, the left brain is very logical, rational and objective, and the right brain is very intuitive, random and subjective.

With my Writing, I tend to engage my left brain, and with my Tarot, I tend to engage my right brain.

And sometimes, with both, I tend to engage both these sides and come up with some really amazingly creative and sensible stuff…

I feel that both my ‘methods of expression’ are extremely creative and sensible at the same time.. there is always a logic to the intuitive stuff I get from the Tarot cards, and there is always a randomly subjective side to the rational writing stuff I do.

Okaaaayyy… But how does it all work out?

Masked MadhaviIt just does. I can’t quite explain it .. its as if I end up wearing a superhero costume and doing something really randomly creative and sensible and objective whenever I sit down to write, or sit down for a reading.

You know, things just seem to magically fall into place and life is simpler and easier and much more fun that way!

Bottom line, it just works..

????

Well, it was hard for me too, at first, to make sense of it. But I just accepted it and it just became easier to live and breathe.

(Shakes Head and Shrugs) Ok.. I guess… So what is this site all about?

Well, a while back I took the big leap and started a freelance career, and today I am well on my way to creating the life that I had envisioned myself in. I can totally relate to the picture I saw in my head when they asked me where I wanted to be five years later.

Along the way, I met many people who asked me how I did it, and what I did and so forth. They also asked me many questions about writing and other related stuff. I too ended up asking them many questions. And we all learnt a great deal.

So my idea with this site was that I can share all the stuff I have learnt and help other people understand and know the stuff that I do know. That will be the main core principle of the next part of my journey in my freelance life.

So there is a next part of the journey?

Of course! It can’t just stop here, you know. There is so much more out there! Today, I have the picture of the next five years emerging in my mind and I am striving for that.

The fun has only just started!

Stick around, and join the journey with me!
